Wash a coated car every one to two weeks using a pH-neutral, coating-safe soap and a two-bucket or rinseless method, in shade, and dry it immediately with filtered air and clean microfiber. Avoid wax-infused soaps, brushes, and letting hard water dry on the surface. Done correctly, this is the single biggest factor in whether a coating lasts two years or five.
The maintenance wash, step by step
- 01Work in shade, on a cool surface. Never in direct Georgia sun.
- 02Rinse thoroughly top-down to remove loose grit before touching the paint.
- 03Foam with a pH-neutral, coating-safe soap and let it dwell briefly.
- 04Wash top-down with a clean microfiber mitt, two buckets and grit guards, rinsing the mitt often.
- 05Do wheels last with separate tools and buckets, or first with completely separate media.
- 06Final rinse — a free-flowing sheeting rinse carries most of the water off.
- 07Dry immediately with filtered air, then a plush drying towel. Do not let water evaporate on the paint.
